Zhao Haibo 赵海波 approached the department with a calm, introspective process. He began with conversations, asked for books and catalogues on art and visual culture, and then started his own photographic inquiries.

From the very beginning he showed an attentive eye and a very personal way of seeing an image and catching a moment. His remarks on the texture and colour of objects and places revealed a genuine talent and a deep sensibility. When he worked on a project, he seemed able to slow time down.

This is his first series of photographs. One of them later became a lightbox shown in his solo exhibition at Arrow Factory in Beijing.
