Conversations with workers and staff to design their own tattoos
Artist in residence Song Jiayin engaged in conversations with BCC workers and employees, first to design their own custom made images and then, according to their choice, proceed to tattoo them or simply donate them the final drawing
CUSTOM MADE TATTOS
resident artist Song Jiayin found in artist/worker Wu Shuqing her first partner for her ongoing "1000 girls project", in which she planned to tattoo 1000 girls/women who would voluntarily accept to design a custom made image collaboratively. After several intimate conversations that lead to the creation of a custom made image, Mrs Wu agreed then to have it on her shoulder as an actual tattoo. If the person agrees, like in this case, the whole process is complete. Alternatively one can keep the handmade painting made by the artist.
During here residency with the Social Sensibility R&D Department several other people agreed to collaborate with the artist and got a final tattoo or a simply kept the original image in the form of a painting and/or a drawing
