Participation and Acting in artist Pauline Pastry's new film Les dormeurs éveillés, 2025
Participatory Acting Activity
Paris / Gonesse
The Social Sensibility R&D Department of Paris/Gonesse was invited to collaborate with former resident artist Pauline Pastry to her new film project.
On July 23rd 2025 the crew secured the final shoot, marking the culmination of a year of co-creation between artist Pauline Pastry and four workers/artists from Gonesse for the production of her film "Les dormeurs éveillés." Sounkarou Dembélé, Youssef Elkermouchi, Souleymane Sanogo, and Mara Dembélé reworked and interpreted texts by 19th-century workers from the newspaper "l'atelier." Reviving the memory of the beginnings of popular workers' education, this film also documents its creative process.
This demanding project, facilitated by the social sensibility R&D department, required reading, rewriting, and rehearsal sessions guided by the artist, followed by filming at the factory and a final location shoot. A unique experience and a work driven by the vision of this artist, and the talent, perseverance, and deep commitment of these workers/actors.
Thank you to them and the entire team.
